5 Best Gaming Laptops for The Sims 4 – 2017

18

Sims 4 is one of the best and most popular games in 2017. Here in this article, we will be sharing some of the best laptops for playing the Sims 4, and it doesn’t need an expensive high-end laptop, but a decent PC should be able to run it. The Sims has come a long way from where it started in the year 2000. The Sims 4 for Windows was first launched in 2014 and a year later for OS X. Well, that’s good news for Apple MacBook users since most of the game developers totally forget about them. I recently started playing this, and I am totally in love with its characters. Things I love doing while playing are fighting, throwing a party, designing mansions and killing other Sims. Overall, it’s one of a kind game and totally fun to play. It can also be played on laptops that cost under $300 on low settings and in case you’d like to play on high settings, we have listed five best Sims 4 laptops below.

What are the official laptop requirements for The Sims 4 game?

According to the official page of EA games, it needs at least 2 GB of RAM, Intel Core i3 processor, Windows XP SP3 and Intel’s integrated graphics. Well, to be on safe side, I would recommend looking for at least Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and NVIDIA GTX 650 GPU. It will also require DirectX 9.0c to run the game. With specifications such as this, you will also be able to play games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends and Minecraft. In case you already own a laptop, and those specifications do not match and still want to play it then we recommend you go with The Sims 3 or 2. Or there’s a new feature called “Laptop Mode” which will help you run The Sims 4 on a traditional PC as well.

So what exactly you need in a laptop to play The Sims 4?

First of all, you need to look at the processor, if it is Intel Core i3 processor or better, then your job is done with the processor. Next comes the GPU, if your laptop has a minimum of Intel HD 4400 graphics then I believe the game should run just fine on medium settings and of course, better is always good. When it comes to memory, we have already recommended 4 GB, and the game can also run on lower settings with 2 GB of RAM. On top of all that, an SSD can speed up things like The Flash. When it comes to performance SSDs are a lot better than regular HDDs, and not everyone can afford it, but if you’re looking for a fast boot and loading time, then you need this badly. Well, these are the things that you need to take care of before buying a laptop for The Sims 4.

  1. These are really great recommendations, thanks a lot. Just ordered Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG from Amazon and I’ll make sure to leave an honest review about it. Also with Intel i5 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, I don’t think there will be any issue. Thanks again for such an awesome guide of best sims 4 laptops of 2017.

    • Hi Manny, thanks for commenting and you’re always welcome. Feel free to let us know if you have any doubts or questions about the laptop and we’ll make sure to help you as much as we can.

  2. Thanks for the great detailed info! For items number 2 (Acer Aspire) and 3 (HP Notebook) above, do you know if you can play the game in high or at least medium graphics mode, versus laptop mode?

And for the Acer, if I bump up to the i7 processor, instead of the i5, will I see a significant increase in performance? Thanks!

    • Hi John,
Thanks for getting in touch, and yes both of these laptops can be used to play Sims 4 from medium to high settings. To answer your second question, it’s a yes again and it will surely improve the performance with i7 processor.

  3. Hi,

Thanks for the great information! Can the game be played on high settings for all of these? Also, if I get many expansion packs, will this change the performance?

    Thank you!

    • Lindsey, I am the person who asked the above question. For what it’s worth, I did end up getting the Acer model with the i7 processor (not listed here but one of the options when you click on the Acer’s Amazon link).

The game settings mostly default to Medium settings for me with a few High settings thrown in. I don’t know if the game is telling me that the Medium settings are best for my laptop, or if it just defaults all non-low grade computers to Medium and lets the user configure from there. (On my previous very low-end laptop, it defaulted to Low setting across the board, so I know that the game does some auto-suggesting based on your device.)

I will probably experiment with mixing in different High settings soon. But there are a lot of options to pick from, and to be honest, the game is playing pretty much perfectly for me with Medium settings. Bear in mind that I am used to Sims 3 and Sims 4 on a much lower grade laptop, but my experience now is very short load screens and great (IMHO) graphics. I’m hesitant to start messing with the settings too much; I don’t want to invite lagging or other gameplay issues just to get a minor (possibly unnoticeable) graphics boost.

Anyway, if you are interested in getting a slightly more expensive model and the graphics/gameplay experience I’ve described above sounds acceptable to you, then I recommend the Acer with the i7 (based only on the six days I’ve had it).

  4. Hey! I am thinking about purchasing the last laptop at around 299.99 on amazon. I was wondering if there is any lag or glitches whilst playing. Also, I do tend to add a lot of custom content onto the game, will that slow it down at all? I’m really not interested in buying if it’s going to be slow and if the display is horrible. Last thing, what graphic setting should I put it on? What is the main difference between all the setting? Thank you so much!

    • Hi Kora,
The laptop you’re looking for is able to run the game smoothly but we’re not really sure about the custom content. About graphics setting, it’ll run the game smoothly on medium setting and to answer your last question, by setting we mean the graphical quality and you’ll have to choose between low, medium and high settings. Such notebook is not powerful enough to run the Sims 4 on high graphical settings. Hope I have cleared your doubts, feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

  5. Hi,
I’ve read the questions above but haven’t found the answer to the question. Will the laptops run the sims 4 with more expansions on medium settings?
I have the base game and 3 expansions and waiting for some more nice packs. Are these laptops good enough to run all the future expansions?

    • Hi Esmee,
We can never tell about the future, can we? The expansions that are available right now run smoothly on 4 laptops listed on top. Also if you want to play the game on medium settings we recommend going with a high-end gaming laptop.

  6. Thank you for your article – I found it helpful. Curious to know how this one: Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-57D4 compares to the Acer (#2) listed in your article. After reading and browsing my head gets muddled with the computer lingo. The only game I play is Sims 4 and otherwise use my laptop for general web activities and some word processing.
